You may be surprised just how easy it really is once you know just what to do.
Getting a flat stomach requires little effort even if you are well over 50! I know, as I have struggled with this for years until, through trial and error, I found what really works to get a flat stomach quickly.
I found that if I did just these things for a few days in a row, my stomach flattened significantly. If I continued to do these things, my stomach got flatter and flatter. What did I do?
There are several things that I did, the very first thing I did was started watching what I ate. I started eating cleaner. I cut down on processed foods and foods with a lot of sugar.
Four Steps to get A Flat Stomach Quickly
1.) Eat a better diet
Eating a better diet for a few days helps me get a flatter tummy fast.
It is amazing that how eating less for a day or two makes your stomach get flatter. Just eat 1/2 of what you normally eat. I don’t know about you but I also feel so much better when I cut down on my calories for a day or two.
Eating a better diet is really not hard if you know how to approach it. Don’t go hungry. When you are hungry, eat a small healthy snack or try drinking water. It takes 20 minutes for your brain to get the message that you are not hungry anymore.
Eat only one main meal a day (make it a healthy, light one) and graze on healthy food for the rest of the meals. They are really like snacks. Always include a healthy beverage. Sugary drinks are not good. They are empty calories and are not good for you in other ways also.
Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and lean meats. A favorite meal of mine is broiled chicken, lean steak or fish and a vegetable and/or a salad. For a desert, a small low fat yogurt.
Begin to eat lighter, more often and healthier.
Tips To A Healthy Diet
- Eat one main meal a day
- Eat several small meals throughout the day
- Drink healthy beverages (no sugary drinks)
- Eat Vegetables and lean protein for main meal
- Eat nuts, fruits and low calorie snacks for small meals.
- Limit added sugars
2). Drink More Water
First, I made sure I drank plenty of water. I would drink several 16 oz. bottles of water a day. Probably 4 or 5 and sometimes more. It is recommended to drink one half of your current body weight in water per day. For example, if your weight is 130 lbs, you should be drinking at least 65 oz. of water per day.
Dehydration causes your body to hold onto water causing bloating. If your intake does not equal your output, then you are dehydrated. This is not good for so many reasons one of which is a bloated looking stomach.
Drinking plenty of water has many benefits. Here are a few:
- Helps maintain balance of fluids
- Helps control calories
- Helps energize muscles
- Helps skin look good
- Helps kidneys
- Helps maintain normal bowel function
If you really can not drink plenty of “plain” water, you can infuse cucumber, ginger and mint and/or lemon into the water and it will taste much better.
Tips to drink more water:
- Carry water with you
- Eat more fruits and vegetables
- Have a beverage with every meal or snack
- Drink water while exercising
3). Limit Salt Intake
Secondly, I lowered my salt intake. There is a saying that says where salt goes water follows!
If you eat a lot of sodium, water will stay in your tissues causing bloating around the stomach area. Reducing your sodium intake is one of the best ways to get a flat stomach quickly.
This is a good thing to remember when you have a special function to attend. When you limit sodium intake, you get a diuretic effect meaning you get rid of water through your urine.
The range of sodium intake recommended by the American Heart Association is 1500 – 2300 mg per day. If you are healthy, you can eat 2300 per day. However, most folks eat over 3500 mg of sodium per day.
This is especially true if you are used to eating store bought and processed foods. Just 400 mg. of sodium equals to 2 lbs of water weight!
A study by the Heart Association showed that 70% of sodium intake is from Restaurants and processed foods.
Tips to limit Salt Intake
- Stay away from processed foods
- Skip adding salt to your meal
- Season food with pepper, spices and curry powder
- Stay away from sodas and sugary drinks
- Limit sodium no lower than 1500 mg.
- Eat meals you prepare at home instead of going to a Restaurant.).
4). Do Core Workouts
Core workouts work not just your abdominal muscles but your whole core. When you work your core you are tightening your girdle so to speak. Your core muscles wrap around your body and supports your spine and keeps you balanced.
Third, I did a short 2 minute ab workout consisting of crunches and lower abs cycle and reverse crunches. This workout can be done anytime of the day. I do them right before getting my shower in the evening.
It will really surprise you each day. You will feel your abdominal muscles becoming tighter and your tummy looking flatter. Don’t skip a day. Always make time for this ab workout, you will be so glad you did!
If you want to really vamp it up do a different ab workout each day. Increase the time. Work up to 15 minutes a day and wow you will be flat and firm in a few days.
Doing the ab workouts each day everyday along with a healthy diet and you will be amazed just how flat your tummy can become.
Learning how to get a flat stomach quickly is not hard. If you implement these techniques mentioned, you will have a flatter stomach and will be on your way to becoming a fitter you.
